| - About Yosemite Artists - | ||
|
The artists represented here are all long time residents of Yosemite National Park. They have had time to observe and the opportunity to capture the many moods of this amazing landscape: the incredible beauty of wildflowers in Spring, the roar of waterfalls in Summer, the soaring cliffs, the abundant animal life, the glorious colors of Autumn, the silent snows of Winter. From broad painted vistas to exquisitely rendered plants you will sense the sacredness of the place we are fortunate enough to call home. As you browse through each personal artist's work we hope our visions will help you see Yosemite in new ways, and discover nuances that lead you to a deeper understanding of the place we love. |

| On each personal page there are instructions for contacting the artist or for purchasing a piece of art. 10% of the purchase price goes to one of the non-profit organizations that help to further the arts in Yosemite. You may designate a specific program of those listed for the 10% donation or the artist will decide. | ||

| Yosemite Renaissance is an annual competition/exhibition, which is intended to encourage diverse artistic interpretations of Yosemite. Its goals are to bring together the works of serious contemporary artists that do not simply duplicate traditional representations; to establish a continuum with past generations of Yosemite artists; and to help re-establish visual art as a major interpretive medium of the landscape and a stimulus to the protection of the environment. Historically, the arts have played a very important role in the establishment of our State and National Parks. It is our hope that they can be just as important in future efforts to preserve and protect that heritage. Yosemite Renaissance also administers the Yosemite Artists-in-Residence Program for recognized artists who have an established exhibition record. For information about the programs of Yosemite Renaissance see our Web site at http://www.yosemiteart.org. | ||

| The Mariposa County Arts Council, established in 1981, is an incorporated not-for-profit organization, created to promote and support all forms of the cultural arts, for all ages, throughout Mariposa County. As a liaison between the arts community and the Mariposa Board of Supervisors, the Arts Council works closely with local authorities in sponsoring and organizing ongoing and special art events. One of the programs they have helped sponsor is the Yosemite Children's Art Program. This is an ongoing Arts Education Program that brings community artists into the park schools, to teach various forms of art to the local children. The lessons are based on art history from all cultures, and designed around the existing curriculum. The children's work is then displayed at local galleries including the Ansel Adams Gallery, and the Mariposa County Arts Council Gallery. The children are involved in the whole process, from creation to display. | ||
